I put this digest together because everyone on the team loves The Golden Age of Comics. Like Golden Age comics, my WHITE HEAT COMICS Digest has a nice balance of action and quirkiness.
The name WHITE HEAT came from my favorite James Cagney movie (from 1949); it made sense to name the comic after a film from the ‘40s, since that was also the decade when comics went through their Golden Age.
I’ve always loved Jungle Girl comics; in many ways, KYLA, THE GODDESS WHO WALKS THE EARTH is a love letter to that genre. I drew it, and Steven Ross fleshed out the script.
We also have Pete Stewart’s eclectic AMAZON JOHN. AMAZON JOHN is Pete’s first-ever comic work! It harkens back to the time when publishers experimented with different styles and strips to see what stuck.
Finally, to be true to our roots, we needed a rip-roaring Sci-Fi adventure! That comes in the shapely form of space pirate DEB BONAIR! Don’t ever double-cross her! Written by myself, and drawn by an amazing artist: Rory Hensley!
