What Are The Odds Of Hugh Jackman Joining MCU In Deadpool 3?

Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe were thrilled to learn the news that Deadpool 3 with Ryan Reynolds is indeed in development. The film is currently scheduled to be released on Nov. 8, 2024.

The Hillside TV series star was already a household name when he signed on for the first Deadpool film. But the superhero film franchise, which has produced two Hollywood blockbusters up to this point, has taken his career to another level.

One of the more enticing questions for the Deadpool 3 film is how Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine character will be used in the film.  Back on Sept. 27, Reynolds released a video on Twitter where he announced that Jackman would indeed star in Deadpool 3. That video generated nearly 40 million viewers, and the announcement sent the MCU into a frenzy.

There are actually several betting sites that give customers the option to bet on Wolverine and other Marvel characters appearing in Deadpool 3. Bovada gives Wolverine +150 odds of being featured in Deadpool 3, the highest odds among the other MCU characters listed.

Regarding betting, customers in Canada’s most populated province can place wagers through  Ontario betting apps such as BetMGM, Caesars, DraftKings, and FanDuel.

Through these sportsbooks, users can place bets on sports such as hockey, football, baseball, and basketball. The wide variety of different betting options includes futures, moneylines, point spreads, and parlays.

At Bovada, the Spider-Man character has the second-best odds of appearing in Deadpool 3 at +250. Venom, Hulk, and Dr. Strange all share the third-best odds of +500, followed by Beast, Jean Grey, and Cyclops (all +1000).

Jackman was in New York City on Monday for a showing of The Son, which stars him, Laura Dern, Anthony Hopkins, Vanessa Kirby, and Hugh Quarshie. There, Jackman briefly spoke about his upcoming role in Deadpool 3.

“We like to call it Wolverine 10,” Jackman said, per People. “That’s what I like to call it…I think being on set with (Ryan) every day and those two on film in every city together every day… I think it’s fair to say they’ll be punching the (expletive) out of each other the whole time.

“All jokes aside, I’ll probably have more fun in this movie than any other I’ve ever done.”

People previously heard from a source that Jackman’s role in Deadpool 3 “will be much larger than a cameo.”

The first Deadpool film was released in 2016 and grossed $782.6 million at the box office. Deadpool 2 was released in 2018 and garnered $785.8 million at the box office.

How Could Wolverine Be Used In “Deadpool 3”?

Jackman’s appearance in the upcoming blockbuster is enticing for several reasons. Among the main questions: How will his character be tied into Deadpool 3? The Wolverine/James Howlett/Logan character was killed off at the end of Logan (2017).

At the end of Logan, the X-24 (a clone of the Logan character), kills the beloved MCU hero. Laura/X-23 manages to kill X-24, before sharing an emotional and moving goodbye with the real Logan.

So it’ll be interesting to see how the producers of Deadpool 3 use Logan/Wolverine in this one.

Might they follow a similar path to what we saw in Zack Snyder’s in the DC Universe? At the end of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), the Superman character was killed off after sacrificing himself to help the Justice League superheroes stop Doomsday.

But of course, Henry Cavill’s character returned for Justice League (2017), a sequel to the 2016 film which starred him, Ben Affleck, and Gal Gadot. The Superman character was resurrected and ended up surviving at the end, opening the possibility for a return in a potential sequel.

So we could see the folks of Deadpool 3 take a similar path here by simply finding a way to resurrect Jackman’s Wolverine. Other possibilities include using him in flashback scenes or alternative realities.

Either Way, Jackman’s Return Adds More Thrill To “Deadpool 3”

Regardless of how he’s featured in Deadpool 3, this much is for sure: Jackman’s appearance will add plenty more excitement into one of the MCU’s most successful franchises to date.

We’re in the golden era of cinematic films for beloved superheroes from the MCU and DC Universe. Movie producers and directors know just how much fans want to see superheroes share the screen together. And it’s hard to envision a scenario where Reynolds’ Deadpool and Jackman’s Wolverine disappoint.

Fans have waited a long time for the two characters to share the screen, and it’s finally happening.

Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who wrote the first two Deadpool films, will be returning for the third. We also know that Leslie Uggams will reprise her role as Blind Al. In short, all of the pieces are there for Deadpool 3 to be hands-down one of the greatest superhero films ever made.
