SERIES PREMIERE

A new epic era in character-centered horror begins as GHOST MACHINE launches HYDE STREET, its newest ongoing series from creators GEOFF JOHNS and IVAN REIS (Blackest Night, Green Lantern, Aquaman)!

In every city and town, off every country road and metropolis avenue, if you make a wrong turn…you might find yourself on Hyde Street. But be careful who you talk to and what you do because the consequences make death itself seem like the easy way out. Introducing MR. X-RAY! PRANKY, THE WORLD’S MOST DANGEROUS SCOUT! MISS GOODBODY! AND MANY MORE…out to delight, fright, and say good night. What is their secret and that of Hyde Street? Only they know. For now.

Alright, confession time: I had a stack of titles I planned to review last week, but life totally got in the way. I was itching to dive into Hyde Street #1, and now that I’ve finally read it, I’m SO glad I didn’t miss this one!

First off, let me just say—Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis back together? Yes, please! I’ve loved their work since Blackest Night (I mean, who hasn’t?) and the idea of them tackling a character-centered horror series immediately grabbed my attention. Hyde Street promises something creepy, dark, and all kinds of mysterious. And honestly? It totally delivers.

The setup is simple but chilling: Hyde Street is everywhere, waiting for you to make a wrong turn and end up facing its strange, twisted residents. From the freaky Mr. X-Ray to Pranky (the world’s most dangerous scout!), you can just feel something sinister lurking around every corner. The stakes are high, but you don’t even know how high until it’s too late. That first page? Incredible. It’s got everything—a complete little story on its own while begging you to keep turning the page. The way Johns builds tension through just a few lines? Genius.

And let’s talk about that art! Ivan Reis is on top of his game here. The Blackest Night #1 homage cover alone had me hyped, and then you open the book, and it’s just page after page of stunning, eerie, beautifully drawn panels. Reis doesn’t just draw horror—he makes you feel like you’re right there in it, watching things go terribly wrong.

It’s no wonder this creative team is so well-established in modern comics—they know exactly how to pull you in and keep you hooked. Hyde Street is definitely one to watch, especially if you’re a fan of character-driven horror with a bit of a supernatural twist.

I may have been late getting to it, but this is one of those books that sticks with you long after you’re done.
