HAMILTON, MT — Fans of Unlikely Heroes Studios and their 2020 book, The Unthinkables, as well as comic fans in general, are about to get their proverbial pants blown off with a brand new collaborative release from the company – The Art of Ian Richardson!
Those unfamiliar with Mr. Richardson have probably unknowingly seen his work in one place or another – he is the ongoing artist for Judge Dredd and has penciled many a book for Marvel UK; Captain America, The Falcon, Doctor Doom, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Luke Cage, and Modok. He pencilled Noble Causes for Image, as well as Sinister Dexter for 2000AD. He also penciled Unlikely Heroes’ The Unthinkables and is in progress on Issue 2 of that.
“A little while ago, after working together on The Unthinkables, Ian approached us about doing an art book for him. I was absolutely shocked to learn he had never released one with his extensive comic credits! It was an easy yes.” says Unlikely Heroes owner and editor, Laurie Foster.
“The book came together effortlessly, of course, because Ian is just a stunningly talented and fun person to work with. He had a ton of cool, unpublished artwork and his fanbase has been begging him for an art book for years. We had a great time collaborating on designs and came up with something I think everyone will really enjoy.”
Freshly launched on Kickstarter, gifted with Project We Love, and deemed a “Fresh Favorite”, this 132-page triumph includes commissions, large and small, as well as personal warm-up pieces and colored pieces from various pros in the industry working with Ian; all tied up in a shiny package with some fun captions he personally wrote for many of these never-before-published pieces!
The campaign features softcover AND hardcover editions of the book, as well as signed, personalized, and remarked copies for the Ian aficionados. Early backers can receive a special Founder’s Edition copy, and there are a few pieces of ORIGINAL art, too!
