Welcome to the first edition of Twisted News, where I bring you the world of Twisted Dark by Neil Gibson. He brings humor to his name, but more importantly, he writes short stories similar to the Two Sentence Horror Stories seen on Netflix. They are not just short stories, “… there’s a bit more to it … right from the start I planned for the stories to connect, and some characters to develop through the volumes.” Mr. Gibson shares in his foreword.
The stories in Twisted Dark delve deep into the festering wounds of real life, portraying the struggles that some people face. It’s also a wound that others will ignore if it doesn’t happen to them. It gives insight into a different life or even a different mindset. The raw anger that seeps from their souls, manifesting into pure evil as their intrusive thoughts take over, weave through the pages, and the word prompt-type quotes give you a glimpse of what lies ahead.
The comic’s intrigue deepens with its edgy artwork and invitation to question everything. It prompts you to wonder if the person you’re sitting next to on the bus, or passing in the aisle at the grocery store, or even your own reflection desires to live a different life. The underlying message in all this is clear: live your life, but refrain from judgment, for everyone has a story that could be more twisted than yours.
What leaves your mind twisted?
Until next time!
