TidalWave Productions is excited to introduce the world of best-selling novelist Harold Robbins to the realm of comic books and media

In partnership with Iridium One, LLC, TidalWave will release comic book adaptations of one of Robbins’ most acclaimed novels this fall, “Spellbinder.”

Harold Robbins, who continues to be ranked as one of the world’s top 5 authors in history selling more than 750,000,000 books, grew up in an orphanage, immersing himself in “Amazing Stories.” Running through the streets of Hell’s Kitchen, he created and imagined grander stories about the world around him, which resulted in over 25 New York Times best-sellers.

“As one of the world’s most groundbreaking and influential authors of the past 50 years, my partner Bradley Yonover and I could not think of a better partner than TidalWave Comics to launch the graphic novel based on SPELLBINDER, one of Harold’s most compelling best-selling books that is as relevant today as the day it was written,” said Jann Robbins.

TidalWave is putting a new spin on Harold Robbins’ work, starting with “Spellbinder,” a timely commentary on Pay TV and the born-again Christianity of greed and hypocrisy. The four-issue comic book miniseries, written by Michael Frizell and illustrated by Pablo Martinena, promises an updated and thrilling adaptation of Robbins’ novel.

In “Spellbinder,” the charismatic “Preacher” emerges from the horrors of Afghanistan to spread a gospel of peace, love, and charity. From California commune to Texas megachurch, his congregation’s wild mix of sex, drugs, and salvation draws the attention of a powerful billionaire. Catapulted into televangelist stardom, Preacher’s empire flourishes amidst dark corruption, forcing him into a gripping struggle: expose the hypocrisy or preserve his power at a devastating cost.

In collaboration with The Bohemia Group, TidalWave and Iridium will be developing this comic book miniseries for film and television.

“We are thrilled to partner with Jann and Brad on behalf of legendary author Harold Robbins on the comic and future series, including feature film/television series based on Robbins’ entertaining work. We are proud to bring his worlds and characters to life in a fresh, new way. Darren Davis and Bluewater are creating something juicy and special for a new generation, reigniting the spark for those familiar with the Harold Robbins brand,” stated Bohemia CEO Susan Ferris.

Frizell, the writer of the upcoming “Spellbinder” comic book miniseries, commented, “Working in Harold Robbins’ seductive, perilous universe is a writer’s dream come true. It’s a world filled with beautiful women, dangerous villains, and charismatic leading men. ‘Spellbinder’ stands as one of his finest works, embodying classic Robbins themes that resonate across generations.”

Davis added, “I have always been a fan of Harold Robbins and can’t wait to bring his voice to a new generation through comic books and films.”

In the past, TidalWave has collaborated with other creative icons, transforming their work into comic books, including Ray Harryhausen (Clash of the Titans), S.E. Hinton (The Outsiders), the Vincent Price estate, and William F. Nolan (Logan’s Run), among others.
