This collection is over 400 pages of full color classic Archie comic books broken down into decades. Each section gets a two page introduction summarizing the decade in relation to the stories Archie was publishing at the time and then around six stories are presented from that decade along with introductions explaining their inclusion in the collection.
It was great to see the progression of the stories over time as social standards and conventions changed. And boy have things changed over the last sixty years! What hasn’t changed is the pure enjoyment that a well-crafted Archie story brings to the reader. This book features a who’s who of great Archie artists including Bob Montana, Stan Goldberg, Dan DeCarlo among many others making it a perfect introduction to new readers and a trip down memory lane for long time fans.
While most of the stories feature the core Archie cast there is the occasional story featuring Sabrina or Jinx thrown in for good measure but expect plenty of Jughead, Betty, Veronica and the gang right up to the Archie Marries series.
This collection is one of the best values in comic publishing today; 400 pages with over fifty great stories for under ten dollars? Pick one up, leave it on your nightstand and enjoy a couple of stories every night. You will be glad you did.
