Scott Wakefield & Rory Boyle’s Steampunk re-telling of America’s War for Independence continues with this month’s crowdfunding of Steam Patriots #2, from Silverline Comics.

“Scott and I had a blast writing this issue,” says Rory Boyle of his writing collaborator Scott Wakefield. “We’d put on our Rev War costumes, grab some corncob pipes, and really get in the mindset as we wrote.”

Issue #2 picks up immediately following the Steam Patriots exciting 1776 beginning, where Felix Ward – a young mechanical genius – has knowledge that could defeat the British juggernaut. Peril dogs his every step, allegiances are called into question, and an ill-fated American spy is introduced. If Felix and Ben Franklin can’t succeed, the Continental Army could be crushed and the revolution finished.
Steam Patriots is the story of Felix Ward, a young colonial Mechanician’s Apprentice with an unmatched memory for details. Set in the American Revolution, Felix discovers information that could change the balance of power in America’s War for Independence—just as British troops storm ashore. The entire world changed when Ben Franklin refined the steam engine and ushered in a technological revolution. Now Felix’s world in thrown upside down as he’s swept into war and must evaded the British juggernaught to help the cause of freedom.
A Kickstarter campaign runs from April 11 through April 30. Partnered with the second issue of Beyond the Stars, digital versions and retailer bundles are available as part of the campaign!
