SQUID GAME MEETS THE HANDMAID’S TALE IN GOLDEN RAGE MINISERIES FOLLOW-UP THIS APRIL

PORTLAND, Ore. 01/23/2025 — Fan-favorite poet and writer Chrissy Williams (and the editor behind bestselling series Die by Kieron Gillen and Stephanie Hans and The Wicked + The Divine by Gillen and Jamie McKelvie) reteams with artist Lauren Knight (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and colorist Sofie Dodgson (Bitter Root, Tank Girl) for the upcoming Golden Rage: Mother Knows Best. This five-issue miniseries follow-up to their fan-favorite dystopian feminist tale is set to launch in April from Image Comics.

The new miniseries launch will also feature a stunning variant cover by artist Tula Lotay (Supreme: Blue Rose, Somna).

In a world where old and infertile women are deemed useless to society and abandoned on an island, Golden Rage documents their golden years of making friends, baking dessert, and fighting to the death. Golden Rage: Mother Knows Best builds upon the first miniseries for a glorious new adventure.

“I’ve always thought of Golden Rage as aspirational—I hope my days also end with such good friends and stabbing weapons,” said Williams. “I can’t wait to share this series with everyone.”

Golden Rage can perhaps best be described as an action-packed, feminist battle-cry and a high-stakes, dystopian blend of Squid Game and The Handmaid’s Tale.

Knight added: “There’ll be more fights, more wrinkles, and more hot flashes than ever before—and we prove definitively that, yes, denim is for all seasons.”

Golden Rage: Mother Knows Best #1Cover A by Knight & Cover B by Lotay will both be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, April 9.

Golden Rage: Mother Knows Best will also be available across many digital platforms, including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play.

Battle Royale meets The Golden Girls with dashes of Agatha Christie and Logan’s Run. I’m all the way in!” —Kelly Sue DeConnick

“The characters are fun and the premise is strong.” —Sequential Planet

Golden Rage’s not-so-farfetched dystopian island of castaway old ladies will [make you] question your attitude toward the aging women of this world. A very important subject of self-reflection indeed.” —Elsa Charretier
