Source Point Press Celebrates 10 Years By Reconnecting With Their Roots and Recommitting To Their Original Mission – The Story and The Audience Come First.

(Detroit, MI) Source Point Press, in celebration of their 10-year anniversary, announced today a number of invigorating changes to its corporate mission and operations. In a refreshing move amidst a chaotic shift in the comic market, Source Point has stated its renewed commitment to place the quality of the story telling and the desires of the audience front and center on all its productions. This pledge better aligns the company with its founding mission and holds true to the founders’ passions. To commemorate this undertaking, the company has released a new Source Point Press “Decade Logo”. While ceremonious itself, the logo proudly declares “A Decade of Determination”. Determination which the company promises to employ in the execution of its compelling and ambitious changes.  The comic book publisher is beginning by reworking their title line-up and release schedule, customizing publication formats to put story and reader experience above hectic and often prohibitive traditional release schedules. Key to this are the decisions to hone in on a small number of longer running IPs in place of fast fiction releases, creating high-quality all-ages content for its growing market instead of focusing exclusively on a small segment of a niche market, and prioritizing community engagement every step of the way. The founding partners have brought in a team of seasoned executives with skillsets targeted to grow and foster the new corporate environment which sees Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer Joshua Werner taking over full creative as well as more day-to-day publication and development operations, while CEO Travis McIntire will be focusing on executing and overseeing the company’s ambitious five-year growth plan. A plan which will see industry setting advances in the technological, creative and consumer facing elements of the storied industry. With this, Source Point looks to reclaim their place as the rebel band of storytellers that set out to make the comic business one where the fans’ experience, needs, and interests take priority above all else.

“I left a successful career as a R&D Scientist because my passion for bringing stories to the world and building a platform for this amazing community of talent far surpassed the appeal of a life purely in science,” says Co-Founder Travis McIntire, the CEO of the company. “However, science and the scientific method have a strong place in this business and with Josh Werner’s extensive creative background and like-minded vision, I knew immediately that he was the perfect person to partner with on this endeavor.” He explains, “Neither of us were ready for how fast Source Point’s success and growth would overwhelm our original mission . As the deadlines and overhead mounted, we continued to try to perfect the publishing process, all while the industry continued to change around us. It compelled us away from our original mission and our vision. Josh and I had always blazed our own trails, endeavoring to be beacons of innovation, but the trap of ‘big business’ got to even us.”

“Travis and I have always put an emphasis on creating experiences for readers. For them to be truly immersed in a story, we strove for more than just passive interaction,” explains Werner. “After experiencing a global pandemic, people need that kind of entertainment more than ever before. In talking to our fans and the market’s consumers at large, it became chiefly evident that we as comic, game, or ‘nerd culture’, have a fundamental need for connection through a community. A community we set out to help foster, a community we are now reaffirming our commitment to building, growing and respecting from infancy to maturity. We’re committed to telling stories in ways that engage fans and allow us all to interact, and to foster connections that allow our fans to live these stories out together.” He continues, “The comic book direct market is shifting dramatically, and part of our mission is to weather that storm by staying innovative, and reaching the audience in new ways. That creativity, dedication, and connection is what builds community, and that is key in creating lasting fandoms. We want to create worlds you can continue to immerse yourself in for life… not just for a fiscal quarter.”

Of the many ways Source Point will bring this vision to life over the coming years, the company is proud to list as some of its first:
