SIX EISNER AWARD-WINNING COMIC ‘NEXUS’ TO BECOME SCRIPTED PODCAST

The ‘Nexus’ audio drama’s first season launches in the Spring of 2023
Dayeye Creative (’Supersonic Pod Comics’) and Broken Bard Studios (’Darksend’) today announced the “Nexus: Audio Series” podcast, launching in spring 2023. The 8-episode first season will see a worldwide release across all podcast platforms.
Writer/producer J.S. Earls, adaptor of 12 graphic novels and co-creator of the Audio Verse-nominated Supersonic Pod Comics podcast (with ‘Games of Thrones’ graphic novelist and ‘Strangers & Aliens’ host Ben Avery), is a longtime Nexus fan. “Hardcore enthusiasts know the original black-and-white Nexus #3 came with a flexi disc that featured music and dialogue from that issue. So, in many ways, Nexus is coming full circle.”
Season one of the podcast will cover Capital Comics’ black-and-white Nexus #1-#3 and color Nexus #1-#3. The first season will also draw heavily from Dark Horse’s critically acclaimed ‘Nexus: The Origin’.
Like the comic, the story begins with headaches. Then the nightmares. Mass murderers who must die – by his hand – hands that wield the energy of stars. He is the greatest avenger in history, but his power and purpose come from an alien race with an agenda. Is he a hero or a pawn? Deliverer or destroyer? Or possibly…the “nexus” of it all?
Created by author Mike Baron (Badger, The Flash, Punisher) and artist Steve Rude (World’s Finest, X-Men: Children of the Atom), Nexus is, as Comic Book Resources calls it, “The greatest superhero comic book of all time.”
Nexus’ writer/co-creator Mike Baron will serve as Executive Producer and approve all scripts. “We want Mike and the fans to both be happy,” said Earls. “That also goes for casting (which begins this December). Yes, ‘big names’ help promotion-wise, but lead sound designer Austin Beach (of Broken Bard Studios) and I care most about finding the ‘right voice’ for each character. Our ultimate goal is to stay as true to the original content as we can and entertain listeners to the utmost of our ability.”
Although Baron isn’t the biggest fan of radio dramas, he IS a fan of Earls’ audio work. “Mike keeps telling me how thrilled he is we’re doing this. Because he knows I care and have high-quality standards” said Earls. “The ‘Nexus: Audio Series’ is really going to be something special.”
