HAMILTON, MT — Indie comics juggernaut Unlikely Heroes Studios is proud to announce its collaboration with writer/artist Paul Hanley (Doctor Who, The Unthinkables) and writer/artist Matt Frank (Godzilla, Transformers, TMNT) to publish a thrill ride of a new series just in time for spooky season – Miss Medusa’s Monstrous Menagerie, scheduled for public release in November 2021.
“I love Unlikely Heroes and I’m hyped to be doing a second series with them”, says Paul Hanley, writer, background artist, and colorist for the first issue. “A book like this, four years in the making, thousands of hours of research about creatures and carnies…we couldn’t go to any ol’ rubes on this one. UHS is with it and for it- a Sixteen Wagon this circus would be lost without.”
It’s 1963, and having a carnival of 666 monsters ain’t the draw it used to be. Miss Medusa’s Monstrous Menagerie is one of the last two Mythic shows left in the U.S., trucking from one backwater town to the next. It’s dirty work, and sometimes you barely make the nut, but America’s still the land of plenty (of rubes). For this season at least, Miss Medusa’s hiring, and you can still run away and join the circus!
“We’ve never released a book quite like this,” says UHS owner Laurie Foster, “We hope you’re ready to read this comic multiple times so you can notice the staggering amount of detail lovingly crafted into foreground AND background of every panel. Easter eggs galore, mythology, fantasy, wrapped in a crunchy outer shell of sarcasm and quick wit…I really feel that no one has ever made a comic like this before.”
Achieving Project We Love status AT LAUNCH, hitting goal in under 3 hours, and running until November 5th, the Miss Medusa’s Monstrous Menagerie Kickstarter features a badass set of backer premiums for all budgets, including a Sideshow Edition with different cover AND interiors, and a LIFESIZE (6.6 ft tall) Miss Medusa cardboard standee so you can bring the circus home!
