A village becomes under the protection and guidance of the tigers. The Tiger People find the River People and they live together in peace. That peace though may be broken.
The art looks lovely it has a nice soft style that brings out the character’s personalities. The tigers are illustrated as majestic creatures. They appear so peaceful.
The tigers here have many gifts and they pass them on to the Tiger People.
The Court here does have drama going on. The people are unsure of its leadership. Two daughters will compete against each other in three trials to become the new Queen of the Claw. These sisters are different and it seems a foregone conclusion which one will win. Will they remain friends still and will their love for each other stay strong as they fight each other? When the trials start the action will too.
The story flows smoothly enough and this issue does set up what is to come. The tigers are shown and used a small amount. Using them more would help to show how important they are to the people.
The two sisters are the best of friends the one sister though wants to be Queen and from her reaction to the competition, she wants to win in the worst way. Will becoming Queen tear these two loving sisters apart?
The first trial is The Trial of the Mind. Dani and her sister are different. Her sister is full of confidence. Her sister runs headlong into the challenge. The sister’s name is Lindi it does take a while before it is mentioned.
The tiger is drawn and colored amazingly. He is a thing of beauty.
The second trial is The Trail of the Spirit.
Dani in between trials has a journey something. She encounters those who wish to help her.
Lindi is changing and doubting herself. Dani on the other hand see growing stronger and more sure of herself. At first, it was obvious who would make a better Queen things change though. Dani has changed and not necessarily for the better.
We see both Princesses have powers. Lini is fire and Dani is ice. In the final Trial, Dani has become ruthless while Lindi seeks to be more peaceful. Dani attacks her sister and things go from bad to worse.
The new Queen is heartless in her actions and she is also misguided.
This story takes a sad turn that will make your heart feel saddened.
The ending here is not what you would expect but it is what you will want.
