Comments: Maxine Slaughter is featured here. She is a tough girl. As a White Mask, she is part of a group yet we can see this life is not for her.
This book does give us a step-by-step short form of how one becomes a member of the Order of St. George and a hunter of monsters. There is a lot of tradition in joining the Order of St. George. Being a part of this secret order is not easy it requires lots of sacrifices. There are so many different levels within the order. They have a long history and many dedicated members serving many different roles all vital to the Order. This write-up is done in prose. The art fits perfectly the story being told. It does go on too long but it does deliver a lot of information that is good to know if you are reading the regular comic book series. Most of this book is taken up by prose writing. A little more story art as an actual comic book would have made this better and more time spent on Maxine.
We see here Maxine considering her life and what to do next. She has decided on a path that is full of hardship and one she may not survive. Her new life is starting.
