King Richard and Robin Hood stand together. Robin Hood is his lackey.
The Sheriff gives a nice speech to rally the people. It is well-spoken and inspiring. It will get the people to fight hard. The seige starts and it is illustrated perfectly. This is no gentleman’s war these people fight to live. The King’s army are all hardened warriors willing to die for him. All the battle is drawn so brutally.
Robin Hood challenges the Sheriff. Well, the Sheriff’s reaction is one the reader will expect from following this series yet not the one you might hope for. The way the characters react and act here is not how you would expect heroes to and since they are not heroes it fits.
This is not the Robin Hood and his Merry Men that you read about. This book has the personalities reversed. It works though. It has revived old characters giving them a fresh new outlook. It is strange to be routing for those you would normally not and to be booing those you are used to cheering for.
Hard-fighting battles from the Dark Ages will fill you with dread and excitement.
