Comments: Here we see Merlin before he had any magical powers. He is a bumbling young man. His meeting with Hector is anything but ordinary. Hector is a thief with much more than that ahead of him. Both of these men have a future that awaits them but first, they have to survive the here and now.
The art is gritty and does match the time period well.
Now, Merlin does want to do the right thing. Helping out a girl in trouble does get his interest. He may be a simple Swineherd yet you can tell he has the potential to be more.
Alana needs Merlin and Hector’s help in the woods which are dangerous places.
The characters of Merlin, Hector, and Alana are all presented wonderfully and you will enjoy each one for different reasons. Alana has some mystery to her, while both Merlin and Hector are nice guys. Now the three of them are off on an adventure which this issue does draw you in enough that you will want to go along on it.
