Comments: It is 1547 and in Santo Domingo lives Jose a fourteen year old boy. Jose is a Jew and he finds out he is now being presecuted because of it. Josh makes an escape. He is now on a quest to find where he belongs.
Now Josh does manage to sneak onboard a pirate ship. When he is discovered he learns something about the Captain no one else onboard knows. This gets him a chance to become a real pirate and more.
The art is rough. When the whole Santa Clara ship is shown it is a beautiful sight.
The story does center around Jose and how he embraces his being a Jew and a pirate. There is a lot of talk about what will become of Jose. Not very much action though. Than the two ships meet and it is a full fledged battle. Musket balls and canon balls arre flying fast and furious.
Jose gets to play hero rescuing Rosa his love. Yes he has grown and gained skills in the months he spent as a pirate.
The story does get into relation a little bit yet not overly so that it is the focus. The story is a coming of age adventure for Jose.
