Comments: A Jewish priest brought to life a Golem and it fought hard for justice just too hard and it was stopped. It was hidden away.
Now in the present day at Venice Beach, California, it is a nice day out. We meet Jake here and he seems like a nice enough guy. He does have a drug problem though to control pain. His uncle is a Jewish Shammes a caretaker.
Jake’s uncle has a secret named Adam. Yes, it is a big Golem. Actually, a few people know about Adam.
It seems strange to see a Golem with hair acting like a real person. This is not your traditional stone Golem. Adam does display a huge amount of strength and he uses it brutally when he has to.
Jake gets a girlfriend and her situation is not made clear in the storytelling until his uncle states it. Jake wants to protect her and save her from the drug gang. Exactly how she is involved with them is unclear. Jake is an interesting character and does carry the story he is a guy you will like. Not a lot happens in the story yet it is used to set up what is coming.
A couple of local thugs are fleecing the homeless including Angel and Sasha two friends of Adam. Big, big mistake.
This book does not finish the story it leaves you hanging on what will happen next and what this Golem Adam will do. Will he protect Jake’s girlfriend or not?  You will have to wait for book two in this series to find out.
