Comments: Maximus Ohanzee Wildhorse aka Maximus Wyld is an actor of Indian Heritage. He became an actor of great talent and charisma. He gets introduced to acting. He does not like the way Indians are portrayed in films, especially westerns. Racism is still going strong in the early 1900s. Maximus well he wants to get acting roles that are not just based on his skin color.
The way the story is told Indians and Blacks are the same. The writer talks about them as if there is no difference.
Maximus has the look to make it big. He also has morals about who he will play in films.
Here you get an inside look at how the big movie houses treated their actors and actresses. Blacks or other minorities are not represented fairly in the cinema.
Maximus joined the war and was injured in his duty. Now back home things have changed for him.
The black-and-white art fits the story and era of this book.
Maximus does get a lot of work and is in many films.
His trip to Europe changed his life. He had a major starring role yet back in America, this sunk his career. He was even deemed guilty of Anti-American activities. He was punished unfairly.
The story does start to drag on. It is an interesting topic and based on a true story The drama is real not overdramatized so it is not as exciting as it could be.
Whatever happened to him, no one can say. He was a man who tried his hardest to make it big but he could not defeat the idea of racism and then people wanting someone to blame. He was a good man.
