Comments: The planet of Arrakis also known as Dune is a desert planet where Spice is found. Spice is life.
Baron Hakonnen is a hard man working for his Emperor. He cares about the spice more than lives. The technology showed makes it clear this is in the far future.
Kaitain is the planet where the Emperor lives. Pardot Kynes has an audience with Emperor Elrood IX he was summoned. The Emperor comes across as a stuck up idiot yet he does rule an empire.
On Caladan we see Leto Atreides he gets to watch a primitive ritual. The violence of the ritual is low key even though it leads to death.
The Emperor seems to have his enemies. They want a change.
The story is hard to follow. It does introduce the main characters yet it does not go into why they are here. The set up should have explained more. None of the characters jump out at you. They are presented to blandly. They are here but why should we care. Many things are mentioned from the books by Frank Herbert and from the movie, just that none of them are fully talked about or shown as you would expect.
It will be interesting to see where this series goes.
