Comments: Conan is still moaning over the loss of his love Belit. Conan is journying through a jungle with many hardships to get through. Both the air and water hold danger as well. The writhering battle with a crocodile is a hard fought one. Also in the trees a mysterious presence watches. What does it seek?
As Conan sleeps he is attacked by a panther. This big cat is dead. Conan must push himself fueled by Belit’s love to fight on and stay alive. For this cat is a monster and more.
Zula is a most impressive man. It is easy by his countenance to see he is a warrior.
Conan has an atmosphere of sorrow about him. His deep loss has left him feeling hurt and alone. His battle prowess is still there and he is a big steel muscled brute with a sword that you never want to cross.
Conan traversing the jungle points out the hardships of it almost in a complaining manner. This is unlike Conan’s character. Plus the way he is so deeply affected at the lose of Belit that it affects everything about him does not fit fit him. Conan is a survivor and fighter which is shown here just not as well as it could be.
