Comments: Maxine Slaughter is in a bad part of town with George Cutter training her. What he wants her to do is not nice.
This book delivers some history on the houses. It is good to know more about them. These Houses have been around for a long time.
Maxine has a conversation with Albie he is obviously high up in the House of Cutter. He and Maxine are having a chat about what Maxine needs to learn or should learn. Albie knows many things yet says little. He does mention Cecilia Slaughter is coming to visit.
Cecilia wants power. She wants to be a Dragon. She does have the drive and willpower to accomplish this. Her dreams are big. Her insanity is mentioned but not shown here.
Albie and Cecilia make a deal about the future of the Houses mainly House Slaughter and the deal involves one Erica Slaughter, who may or may not be dead.
So Maxine is taking Erica’s place. She does seem like a fitting replacement. Her life is just starting and it is going to be dangerous, exciting and so very interesting.
