Mike Baron is one of the greatest living comic book authors, having been published since the early part of the 1970s, even earlier in print articles, including the rock magazine cream.
NEXUS is the brainchild of Mike Baron and Steve Rude, being first published in 1981,
HAPPY 40TH BIRTHDAY.
His book, NEXUS, is the newest addition to the nexus canon, an interesting fact, as well as being the creative force behind nexus, mike is the ONLY writer of nexus throughout the ENTIRE history of its publication. He is also well known for his fan-favorite creation, The BADGER, (who has also appeared in the nexus universe), and a plethora of other popular comics, such as the Flash, the Punisher,(and SO many others), he has also written many works of literature, such as Helmut Head, Banshee’s, Whack Job, and more recently Florida Man & Hogzilla, to mention just a few, his creative output is enormous.
NEXUS is Horatio Hellpop, a cosmic executioner, who lives on the planet Ylum, a planet inhabited by a god like creature, The MERC, who provides nexus with unlimited powers, which he can use as he wishes, in return for his power, he must carry out the mercs bidding, the executions of mass murderers,(he receives his assignments from the merc, via agonizing dreams), despots, military criminals of all races and creeds, a bargain which haunts Horatio. Nexus primarily uses his powers, for the betterment of his planet Ylum and its inhabitants. Ylum is a home for people, who have suffered persecution across the galaxy, a safe haven.
In this remarkable work of literature, we find nexus light-years across the galaxy, hunting down multiple criminals on the mercs list,(think multitasking). Unawares that in his own corner of the universe, GOURMANDO (the devourer of planets) COMETH!
Nexus returns home to find Eylum in chaos, end of times looting, religious fervor, and general madness amongst its peoples, as the planet and its population face imminent destruction, nexus has to confront GOURMANDO and devise a plan to save his planet, his family and friends before it’s too late.
This is a GREAT book, I cannot encourage everyone enough to read it.
