This week, I will examine “Past Time # 1’ from Mad Cave Studios. It’s a small-town thriller that takes baseball, aka America’s pastime, and brings a supernatural factor to the forefront.
Henry Hayes could have been the best baseball player anyone had ever seen if only his dark affliction hadn’t kept him from playing in the daylight. However, when the barnstorming circuit introduces a new novelty to the game—night baseball under the bright lights—will his dreams of playing pro ball finally be realized, or will his bloody past catch up with him before he gets the chance? The paranormal elements in this premier issue blend seamlessly with the timeless concept of baseball, thanks in part to Joe Harris, who crafts a tale that transforms America’s pastime into an eerie narrative filled with monsters and blood (believe me, there’s plenty of blood found in these pages). One of the most chilling narratives is Henry’s affliction of playing baseball in daylight, which may seem far-fetched, Harris finds a way to make it work by presenting it as frightening while also highlighting Henry’s struggles in a way that sets the stage for significant developments that no one will see coming. Yes, the story is heavy on baseball, showcasing the best of its small-town America vibe, with horror elements carefully integrated to keep the premise unique without relying on every horror movie cliché imaginable. ” Past Time ” is a well-crafted story that intertwines baseball and horror, revealing the darker and more sinister side while making for a compelling read. With Joe Harris and Russell Olsen at the helm of this premise, it’s an excellent example of innovative storytelling while bringing tremendous joy to horror fans.
Well, that’s it for me this week. Thanks for sticking around, and I look forward to seeing you all next time.
