Wrapping up my look at various Kang The Conquerer stories, this week I’ll take a look at Moon Knight Annual # 1.
This annual pits Moon Knight against Kang in a story that travels across numerous time periods. Both time and reality have gone haywire due to Kang wanting to rewrite history as well as setting an old grudge against Khonshu so now it’s up to Moon Knight to fix reality which sees him engaging in a hectic all-out battle between the two that sees both of them showing up in numerous time eras and the use of various Moon Knights that range from the 1800s to WWII-era Germany to even ancient Rome, the battle itself just kept on surprising the readers while taking the old-school concept to time-traveling to new heights and that’s only due to the script from Cullen Buun as he thrives in writing a great Moon Knight but also succeeds in making Kang a serious threat; I also like how MK’s three personalities (Marc Spector, Jake Lockley, and Steven Grant) take a back seat which I feel is a good thing because it would have taken up most of the plot and with this story moving promptly that part alone would’ve slowed things down.
Moon Knight vs Kang The Conquerer is a battle that sounds so mismatched but when you see it explode on the pages, it brings such excitement and gravitas that will amaze the readers but will have us hoping for a sequel. MCU fans will definitely find something to like about this annual.
Well, that’s it for me. I’ll be back with another review so thanks for sticking around and I will see you all next time.
