This week, I will look at “MAGA MAN # 1,” a tale about the fight against corruption, fascism, and globalism.
This series presents Donald J. Trump, the soon-to-be 47th president of the United States, as a superhero battling for truth and justice in a way that only he can. Elon Musk, the billionaire inventor and maverick entrepreneur (cast as Trump’s plucky sidekick), believes that the attempts on Trump’s life have crossed the line and urges him to take more control of his destiny and personal security. Trump and Musk embark on Project: MAGA MAN, where the 47th wears armor that enhances his strength (think Superman meets Iron Man), and thus, MAGA MAN is born! The line between superheroes and parody is blurred within the pages of this issue, making it hard to separate fact from fantasy. Mostly, this issue leans towards a more heroic approach with a tremendous amount of gusto, I might add, while addressing real-life elements effectively, making this issue a fun read. It also serves as yet another example of making Donald Trump a more polarizing figure than ever. The book itself could be a great collector’s edition for anyone who’s an avid fan of politics but tries not to take the story too seriously. With that said, “Maga Man Origin” strives to make comic books great again, no matter how outlandish the concept is.
Well, that’s it for me this week. Thanks for sticking around and I look forward to seeing you all next time.
