This week I will look at “Groo: Minstrel Melodies”, the latest Groo, The Wanderer series from the all-start creative team of Sergio Aragones & Mark Evanier along with Stan Sakai. The Groo-verse’s hapless wandering minstrel and his smart daughter, Kayli, roam the land… Traveling from town to town, they sing tales of Groo wherever they go, bringing laughter, joy, and lessons to the townsfolk.

The opening issue to this series is another reminder of the overall greatness that Aragones and Evanier bring with theit timeless collaboration astray continue to bring their style of humor and grace in a way that never comes off as being silly nor trying to push boundaries with it, instead they always find a way to get laughs from Groo’s misadventures and I must say that the wandering minstrel telling the numerous stories via song is a great plot device to set up the sequences with perfection while once again bringing out the best in Groo’s characterization that shows him being a hero (even if he does take missteps in doing so); Groo fanatics as well as Sergio Aragones fans will enjoy this series that shows how humor and fantasy can come together in harmony but while he may be a parody of Conan The Barbarian, Groo The Wanderer continues to thrive as a iconic character in comics to where we as fans can always enjoy his adventures with ease….and we can expect to get a bellyful of laughs in the process.

Well, that’s it for me this week. Thanks for sticking around and I will see you all next time.
