This week, I will look at issue two of the latest volumes of “Creepshow,” and it’s only fitting, seeing as how Halloween is right around the corner and, as usual, this issue opens up with two tales that are sure to scare the soul of anyone.
The first tale, presented by Eugene Mira and Jorge Fornes, is of a Halloween sleepover that quickly turns deadly as two local kids dressed as vampires show up and present a real bloody factor to the sleepover. In contrast, the second tale, told by John Ridley (Whose comic book work has always been a mixed bag) and Stefano Raffaele, tells a story of social media with three friends go violently viral as two of them, Marcus and Tre’, dare each other to spend the night in an abandoned apartment building in local projects that ends up with a very violent twist (**NO SPOILERS**); These two stories may elicit such shocking reactions when reading them, but they manage to bring out the horror aspects with such a tremendous force where the suspense displayed in both of the stories never feels weak or take any shortcuts, instead, it ramps up with each page until the very end when we get the usual surprise endings that always comes whenever Creepshow involved. This is another solid issue that reminds horror fans why Creepshow continues to be such a strong franchise, presenting horror in all its bloody and thrilling glory.
Well, that’s it for me. Thanks for sticking around and I look forward to seeing you next time.
