REVIEW CORNER: Collectors Annual # 4

Collectors Annual # 4: True Collectors Romance
Writer/Artist: Eddie deAngelini
Published July 2018
For this week’s installment, I’ll take a look at Collector’s Annual #4: True Collectors Romance. With this compilation, I came across it due to the “Collectors” comic strip that’s published on Facebook as well as the strip’s own website. It’s a very charming strip about Eddie deAngelini (The creator of the strip) and his wife, Kristen Parraz, who deals with her husband being a lifelong comic book geek and honestly, this strip’s humor that’s on display throughout the strip will definitely give “The Big Bang Theory” a run for its money which shows us that one man can make his lifelong hobby humorous via a comic strip versus a room of writers who probably never read a comic book; Plus, every strip will have you laughing with joy, and I say that because this is truly a strip that’s for anyone who has a geek shelf full of action figures and Funko Pops (Guilty as Charged), a whole room full of long boxes, goes to every comic convention and of course, graded comics that are any collector’s holy grail.
Collectors mixes in comic book fandom as well as adding the charm and brilliance of such legendary strips such as “Calvin & Hobbes”, “Peanuts” and “Foxtrot” that are rolled into one and you’ll find yourself falling in love with the chemistry that Eddie and Kristen share as a married couple, from binge-watching and working in comic book references into everyday life to Eddie’s massive comic collection and one day owning a copy of both Amazing Fantasy# 15 and Amazing Spider-Man # 1 (He already owned the latter but tragedy struck **NO SPOILERS**); pop culture enthusiasts everywhere will love the homages to Star Wars, Star Trek and Peanuts as deAngelini has truly given the world the ultimate love letter for comic book fans so do yourself a favor and check out Collector’s because this is the comic strip that’s written and drawn by a comic book fan for comic book fans, and it’s all done with love and respect.
Well, that’s it for me. I’ll be back next week with another review and I would also like to take some time to thank my good friend,

Steven A. Wilcox for signing my copy of this annual (Which I posted on here) when I bought it from his table at Legends Comics & Games Fresno when he did his signing this past week. So Awesome! And check out Steven’s pinup that he did for the strip that I added on for this review.
And do yourself a favor- If you’re ever in Santa Monica, be sure to check out Hi De Ho Comics (One of the oldest and legendary comic shops in L.A.); Eddie is a co-owner and Kristen is the manager over there.
Thanks for sticking around and I will see you all next time.
