This week, I will examine the first issue of “Assorted Crisis Event,” the latest anthology series from Image Comics. Time is in crisis. Mingling in the red-light district, you might encounter actual cavemen, medieval knights, and cyborg soldiers on leave from World War IV. Victorian debutantes wander into cell phone stores, bewildered. On their way to work, bleary-eyed commuters become trapped in time loops, confronted by alternate-reality versions of themselves, and they attempt to evade post-apocalyptic wastelands. At first glance, the story combines a blend of historical elements that might seem chaotic but ultimately unite to create a high-octane experience that draws readers in. It’s worth noting that Deniz Camp excels with his script, prompting anyone to question the nature of time and reality—whether it’s changing with each passing day or if we’re just unpaid extras on a movie set?! This opening issue sets the stage for an anthology series reminiscent of “The Twilight Zone” meets “The Butterfly Effect,” but with a unique twist that proves to be the essential component needed to make this another hit anthology series for Image.
Well, that’s it for me this week. Thanks for sticking around, and I look forward to seeing you all next time.
