This week I will look at “All The Things We Didn’t Do Last Night”, a one-shot compilation from the Image 30th Anniversary Anthology that tells the story of two lovers- Mamen, an art historian who suddenly becomes a jewelry thief due to trauma from her past and Damon, a hitman who is sick and tired of his bosses but a chance meeting between the two of them spark some major fireworks then make a promise to go on a date, even though both of them are completely oblivious of their secret lives; This one-shot manages to mix in every rom-com movie with anything one would find in a David Mamet movie so I can honestly say that this is not a bad thing on the part of Maria Llovet since she crafted this story with such style and substance to where it comes off as being clever but not overbearing to where the readers dislike the characters and the plot. Damon and Mamen, however, bring a lovable approach to their chemistry that’s charming while displaying their affection for each other especially when you have to take into account the steamy sex scenes between them (Think “When Harry Met Sally” if it was made for Cinemax)
A love story like this one set in the crime genre is more than enough to get readers invested but while the plot moved fast (It is a Compilation!); Still, it has enough goodwill to merit a sequel so let’s hope that happens soon.
Well, that’s it for me this week. Thanks for sticking around and I will see you all next time.
