Queen of Mercia LLC Launches First Graphic Novel Series: Morgana Pendragon

BURBANK, CA. Madeleine Holly-Rosing, writer/creator of the graphic novel series Boston Metaphysical Society, announced the launch of her campaign to fund the printing of her new comic series, Morgana Pendragon. Loosely based on the legend of King Arthur, this retelling focuses on his sister, Morgana, who, after twenty years working as a mercenary, returns to England when news of Arthur’s impending death reaches her. “I’ve always loved Arthurian legends, but felt Morgana was relegated to the smart woman equals evil stereotype,” Ms. Holly-Rosing commented. “It was also time to see her as older, wiser, and carrying more emotional baggage.”

The series has interior art by Mad Cave talent search winner Alden Kaye, colors by Warnia Sahadewa, and covers by Rio Burton. Troy Peteri is back on board doing letters. “I was introduced to Alden by David Walker (Bitter Root, Planet of the Apes) at Rose City Comic Con,” remarked Ms. Holly-Rosing. “Once I saw his work, I knew he’d be a perfect fit for this project.”

Having entered the comics world over ten years ago with her steampunk supernatural series, Boston Metaphysical Society, Ms. Holly-Rosing brought her background of TV and feature film writing and a love of history, science fiction, and fantasy. Boston Metaphysical Society received an Honorable Mention at the 2013 Geekie Awards and was nominated for Best Comic/Graphic Novel in 2014. It was also consistently nominated for best webcomic by the Steampunk Chronicles’ Readers’ Choice Awards in 2013, 2014, and 2015. In 2019, Source Point Press re-published the original six-issue mini-series and the subsequent four sequels in 2020/21. Ms. Holly-Rosing’s story for Joe Benitez’s Lady Mechanika will be published in 2025.

A veteran of crowdfunding, Ms. Holly-Rosing, has successfully funded her entire graphic novel series on Kickstarter along with the first-ever audio drama, The Ghost Ship. This new campaign will include metal bookmarks with art by Alden Kaye, a variant cover by Roberta Ingranata, and magnets with art by Ms. Ingranata and colors by Valentina Pinto.

The campaign will end May 1 and has a funding goal of $6,500.00, which it has already surpassed.
