With all that hooplah, even the most devoted IDW fan may have missed a news bite or two! For your enjoyment, IDW Publishing is thrilled to share a look back at the insightful panels, award wins, and new project announcements from the event.
First, let’s start with a time-sensitive announcement: IDW’s dedicated web store for Comic-Con Exclusives will close by 5:00pm Pacific Time TODAY, July 27th! That means that fans have only hours remaining to pick up rare and collectible variant cover editions of IDW’s latest comic releases, plus autographed Bookplate Edition graphic novels. On Friday night, July 24th, Comic-Con International virtually hosted the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards ceremony. We are proud to announce that Stan Sakai (Usagi Yojimbo) won “Best Letterer”, Stan Sakai’s Usagi Yojimbo: Grasscutter Artist Select won “Best Archival Collection/Project — Comic Books”, and They Called Us Enemy won “Best Reality-Based Work.” You can read more about the Eisner results and acceptance statements from the creators by clicking here.
Two major new projects were announced this past week! Marvel Action: Chillers, the spine-tingling new addition to IDW’s Marvel Action line (more info here), will be written by Jeremy Whitley and feature artwork by Ahmara Smith, Bowen McCurdy, Gretel Lusky, and Bill Underwood. Also, IDW revealed the full details on the time-traveling crossover series Transformers / Back to the Future by writer Cavan Scott and artist Juan Samu (more info here).
