Two volumes of Powers Squared are now available through LibraryPass’s Comics Plus, which provides digital comic books to libraries, both high school and college. “Getting our books into libraries was advice we received several years ago,” says David Hankins, one of the comic book’s three creators. “But we found out it is easier said than done. Connecting with LibraryPass finally got us there.”
Per Moni Barrette, the Director, Collection Development & Publisher Relations at LibraryPass Comics Plus, “Comics Plus is really special for schools and libraries due to both the affordability and the simultaneous, unlimited use access model. There’s nothing quite like it available to this market and I’m so proud to be constantly adding new content from library friendly publishers like the Powers Squared team.”
“We wanted to do something special for them,” said Paul Hankins, another creator of the book. “We had already done one trade, using the first five issues. For Comics Plus, we made a timed exclusive Volume Two, which collects the next four issues.”
Volume Two features two story arcs, “Kirby Good and Evil” and “Mathemagical.” While David and Paul wrote these issues, they feature the artwork of Rachel Wells, the coloring of Nina Gaillard, and the lettering of Trevor Hankins, the third creator of the book.
Powers Squared tells the story of Marty and Eli Powers, identical twin brothers who discover on the first day of college that they had been granted super powers by a magical yokai when they were young. The share some of the same powers, including telepathy, teleportation, invisibility, and support sight. Individually, Marty was granted superspeed and Eli telekinetic abilities.
