The man who brought the beloved character of Chewbacca to life in the Star Wars universe has passed away. The family of actor Peter Mayhew reported his passing today on his official twitter page, he had passed on April 30.
The family also released the following statement in regarding to his passing:
Mayhew last donned the Chewbacca costume in The Force Awakens and acted as a consultant to his successor in The Last Jedi. He leaves behind a wife and three children, along with a legacy that will not be soon forgotten among Star Wars fans.
