PETE BUTTIGIEG, BIDEN CHOICE FOR TRANSPORTATION SECRETARY BIO COMIC RELEASED TODAY

On the heels of the announcement of Pete Buttigieg becoming President-Elect Joe Biden’s pick for Transportation Secretary, TidalWave Comics is releasing “Political Power: Pete Buttigieg” the comic book biography today.

TidalWave has profiled politicians for more than 11 years using the unique storytelling properties of comic books.

Peter Paul Montgomery Buttigieg, a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, is the son of intellectuals. His father, an immigrant from Malta, and his mother, both professors at Notre Dame, instilled in him the desire to learn. A polyglot, Pete knows eight languages. After graduating from Harvard and studying as a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford, Pete became the nation’s youngest mayor. Although his tenure as mayor of South Bend, Indiana has met with some controversy, Mayor Pete, the first openly gay candidate for president of the United States, has grown into a rising star in the democratic party.

Written by Michael Frizell, drawn by Juan José Pereyra, this 22-page comic book is available both digitally and in print and can be found on multiple platforms. Cover by famed comic book artist Dave Ryan.

“Non-fiction stories are sometimes more entertaining than stories involving capes and tights” said publisher Darren G. Davis “In this case the news far-out passes traditional comic books.

“It’s always a challenge to write a biography comic about overachievers like Pete Buttigieg. How do choose between his accomplishments? When I think about the script, I think about telling the story in about 100 pictures. Although I can’t include everything, I try to select moments that define my subject. I hope that the result gives readers some insight into the decisions he’s made that have made him an important politician at this moment in U.S. history”, said writer Michael Frizell.

The biography comic format allows TidalWave writers to delve into the history of newsworthy figures and explore what shaped them. Several media outlets, including CNN, FOX News, “The Today Show” and Time and People magazines, have featured the company’s line of biographical comic books.

Print copies of the biography comics are available on Amazon. Digital versions are available from iTunes, Kindle, Nook, ComiXology, Izneo, OverDrive, Kobo and wherever e-books are sold.

The latest biography comic book joins TidalWave’s ever-growing library of more than 200 comic book biographies. Previous titles have profiled Barack Obama, Donald Trump, Condoleezza Rice, George Bush, James Comey, Nelson Mandela, Marco Rubio and Elizabeth Warren, among others.
