Over this past summer, ShirtPunch, one of the more popular sources for geek-centric/pop culture t-shirts suddenly vanished. The sudden disappearance left orders unfulfilled, and many customers with no way to get their money back. Nerd Block (associated with ShirtPunch) was also suddenly gone. The ShirtPunch website only had a message that stated there would be a new website beginning in August, but the month came and gone with no changes or answers.
This week though, the new ShirtPunch owners finally spoke up and hoped to set the record straight with customers. Below is their official statement:
“As the new owners of ShirtPunch, we are extremely excited to once again provide our loyal customers with the best fan-inspired t-shirts on the Internet. We’d like to take this opportunity to address some of the concerns that have been voiced regarding the state of affairs left by former ownership.
ShirtPunch was ultimately purchased as a result of a bankruptcy, which stemmed from financial troubles linked with Nerd Block. ShirtPunch is now operating under new ownership, completely separate from the group who ran Nerd Block and ShirtPunch in the past. With that being said, ShirtPunch is no longer associated with Nerd Block.
About the new owners: we are Canada’s largest screen-printing, direct-to-garment printing, and embroidery company and we have been in business for over 45 years. We plan to dramatically decrease shipping and production times, as well as improve the print quality and consistency of your t-shirts. Additionally, we plan to launch some new apparel products and other fun and exciting programs – please let us know if there’s something you would love to see on the site! We’ve also kept some key creative staff members who previously worked for ShirtPunch to ensure the selection of t-shirt designs remains unmatched.
Customers who did not receive orders placed with former ownership; we plan on offering a store credit to be used once we’re up and running, as well as provide you with help getting your money back from your respective Credit Card/PayPal providers. If you would like to receive a store credit, please e-mail us at storecredit@shirtpunch.com and we will send over a code to be used once the website is live. If you would like to receive instructions regarding a Credit Card chargeback, please e-mail us at chargeback@shirtpunch.com. We encourage you to do both!
We will be available to answer questions and remedy as many issues as possible. Our goal is to do right by our valued customers and artist community.
We would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding. The purchase of ShirtPunch, was only finalized this week, and we took the opportunity to announce our return as soon as we could – it would never be our intention to keep our customers in the dark.
Our official relaunch date will be announced shortly. In the meantime, we can tell you that our line up of designs for October is something everyone should be VERY excited about.
Thank you all again, we can’t wait to get started!”
