Michael Desharnais Talks about MARSHAL STRONG #2

Michael Desharnais in back with Marshal Strong #2. As you may or may not recall Michael Desharnais’ Commando, joined the G-Men on day one with me and I’m excited to see what he has planned for this next issue of Marshal Strong.

First Comics News: For anyone new to the comic, who is Marshal Strong?:

Michael Desharnais: Marshal Strong is a meta-human hero created by the U.S. military as part of a series of top-secret experiments using alien technology. Colonel Marshal had a quiet, yet successful career far away from the battlefield as a distinguished Air Force psychiatrist. That all changed when he was brought onboard to assist with “Project Red Cape,” the military’s attempt to create the world’s first metahuman soldiers. Marshal never imagined he’d become one of its most powerful results. Transformed by the experiment, he now possesses extraordinary strength, agility, reflexes, and intellect. As the leader of APEX, he leads his fellow meta-human heroes in an ever-ending battle against global threats – both human and alien. But this is not the only fight that Marshal must contend with, as he must constantly battle the creeping effects of meta-human psychosis—a volatile condition triggered by the very enhancements that make him a hero. As his powers are pushed to the limit, so is the strain on his mind, forcing him to walk a fine line between control and chaos.

1st: Do you need to read issue 1 to follow the story?

Michael: Issue #2 can stand on its own, but it references the (catastrophic!) events of issue #1 in flashback.

1st: Do you need to read issue 1 to follow the story? Can you pledge for both issues if you are new to the ThunderZone Universe?

Michael: Yes, issue #1 is available as an add-on on Kickstarter! It’s a great read and helps give a complete picture of the unfolding Marshal Strong saga.

1st: In this issue, we travel back in time for some backstory. Where does the story start?
Is Marshal Strong still dealing with the Secret Shogun?

Michael: Issue #2 takes us back to when Colonel Strong is first made aware of the military’s secret meta-human experiments. As a military psychiatrist, he’s initially only brought in to screen potential candidates (but that is about to change, and dramatically!). We also get a peek at the aftereffects of the epic battle with the Secret Shogun from issue 1.

1st: You and Elton Thomasi spent a couple of years working on issue one, what’s it like with a more accelerated schedule?

Michael: I have been working with Elton Thomasi for more than a decade (2013!). I can hardly believe it – where does the time go?! Fortunately, over those years, we were able to work on quite a few issues. We’ve been able to do a full story arc of multiple issues all in advance. Our approach fits perfectly with the ThunderZone comics’ promise to fulfill campaigns on time, every time!

1st: Who do you have lined up as cover artists on Marshal Strong #2?

Michael: There are three different covers available for Marshal Strong #2! Two are by Elton Thomasi and the third is by artist JW Erwin. All three covers came out fantastic!

1st: What is the URL for the Kickstarter?

The URL for the Kickstarter is https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dansehn/thunderzone-comics-strikes-back

1st: What is the minimum price for a digital copy?

Michael: A digital is $6.

1st: What is the minimum price of a physical copy?

Michael: A Print copy is $12.

1st: What makes Marshal Strong so cool that no true fan should miss it?

Michael: It’s a fun issue with lots of mystery and intrigue! There is a traitor amid our heroes! This sets into motion a series of events that will have tremendous consequences in the upcoming issues. This issue also introduces the characters of Magnum (seen ever so briefly in issue 1!) and Deacon Hammer. And as always, the action just explodes off the pages thanks to the tremendous art of Elton Thomasi.
