Marty’s Kickstarter Pick … The CCBA Trading Card Set

I am a member of the Canadian Comic Book Alliance, or CCBA for short, which is a tight-knit community of independent and small press Comic Book creators and Cartoonists from Coast to Coast to Coast of Canada. I hope you will allow me a bit of self-promotion as I am but a tiny part of this great group of comic book creators.

One of our upcoming projects is the Canadian Comic Book Alliance Collectable Trading Card set, featuring Canada’s top new creators and their characters and is being funded with a shiny, new Kickstarter.

From the friendly Maritime provinces to the big city hustle and bustle of Ontario to the sparse, rural pastures of the Prairies and onto the picturesque Pacific coast, one thing that unites the members of the CCBA is our passion to bring great Comic Books, Graphic Novels and more to audiences, both Canadian and international!

The CCBA Trading Card set brings together the best original characters of the Canadian Comic Book Alliance creators into one collectable card set that can be likened to collector card sets such as Baseball Cards, Soccer Cards or even Pokémon Cards. Similar to Baseball Cards, each card features a select original character on the card front and a detailed character bio on the reverse. High quality, glossy fronts and matt backs, this full colour, premium card set will make a fantastic addition to any collection.

As if that wasn’t enough, the card set includes Creator Cards; detailing the extensive network of creators who compile the tapestry of the CCBA. By backing this Kickstarter you have the chance to be among the first to get your hands on an official CCBA Trading Card set.

Additional reward tiers include Sketch Cards, featuring original, hand-drawn art, from our large repertoire of Artists. Martin Boruta has been reading comic books and graphic novels for 50+ years (he reads books without pictures too, just sayin’). A lifelong fan of Captain Canuck, Martin is the curator of The Unofficial Yet Definitive Captain Canuck Comicography website. Since 2016, Martin has been reviewing comic books and highlighting great new Kickstarter projects at First Comics News. Martin’s writting has also been featured in Sequential Magazine. For over two-hundred episodes, Martin enjoyed teaming up with his pals and sharing hosting duties on The Hey Kids Comics Radio Show broadcast on Trent Radio 92.7 CFFF FM in lovely Peterborough, ON Canada, and still available at The Hey Kids Comics Radio Show website. Martin is a founding member of the Canadian Comic Book Alliance. In his various adventures, Martin has demonstrated an innate ability to spell “Erik Larsen” incorrectly.

Martin’s “day job” is owner of Shaw Computer Systems Inc., an Information Technology consultancy firm in Peterborough, ON, specializing in Managed Services for small to mid-sized businesses since 1980.

In the past, Martin served in the Canadian Armed Forces Reserve as a member of the Cadet Instructors List (Cadre), reaching the Queen’s Commissioned rank of Captain, was awarded a Baronship of Sealand, and was ordained as a Reverend in the Universal Life Church while watching an episode of Monster Garage.
