Mark Waid could use our help

Let’s give back to a legendary creator

True story: Mark Waid is one of my first favorite writers and he’s also the first comic book creator I ever interviewed. Since then, while creating and writing enduring runs on everything from The Flash to Fantastic Four, to Irredeemable to Daredevil, Mark has been a friend and a supporter. My first San Diego Comic Con, he came over and shook my hand just because he heard me talking about obscure comics publisher Victor Fox.

Now, Mark could use a hand himself.

For those of you who haven’t heard, someone with a record of harassing comics creators for the color of their skin, or their sexuality, is suing Mark over something he believes and feels is not true–and as retaliation for Mark’s outspoken defense of creators of all colors, backgrounds, and orientations through social media and at conventions.

Mark has links to coverage on his website, which you can check out and decide for yourself.

In the meantime, though, he’s started a GoFundMe to help pay the legal fees incurred over this case. So far, he’s raised about $36,000 and still has another $40K to go.

As a colleague, historian, and friend–I’m with Mark. If you are as well, please pitch in a few bucks, or even share the link.

Thanks, so much! Have a great weekend, everyone!

Bestest, Chris
