AUTHOR YVON ROY’S GRAPHIC NOVEL NOW AVAILABLE IN ENGLISH
When Canadian author and illustrator Yvon Roy’s son was diagnosed with autism, he decided to do everything in his power to help his son deal with the world, whilst still respecting who his son truly was. Despite being told that his son would benefit from routine, Yvon decided to move furniture in his son’s bedroom, gradually accustom him to giving hugs, and learn to tolerate baths which contained a tiny amount of dust. His family’s struggles – sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes hilarious – became the graphic novel Les Petites Victoires, now available for the first time in English as Little Victories, through Titan Comics’ Statix Press imprint.
“When I created this book, I had in mind to share my experience, good and bad, so that everything I have learned can be useful to others,” said author Yvon Roy. “I also wanted to make parents feel better, less alone, after a diagnosis. I am so happy to have this book now available in English. I hope it encourages people to share their experiences and have open discussions about autism.”
The book has had a huge impact since its release, with the Huffington Post declaring “To dive into this comic book is to journey into the world of a child, which will interest all parents anxious to understand what their offspring is experiencing”.
Little Victories will be published by Statix Press on May 26, 2020 and is available to pre-order now on Amazon and Forbidden Planet
