“This has been a difficult year for all of us, personally and professionally. We’ve watched our entire industry shut down and we’re just now beginning to see hope for recovery. Our team at L.A. Comic Con brainstormed how we could unite the Con community while we await the return of in-person events. Micro Con is our answer, bringing together the best of the Comic Con experience through a virtual format, employing new innovative approaches in order to involve the global Con audience into our events. We are very excited about the launch of the Superfan Mall to give our exhibitors the opportunity to put their great work on display.”
In addition to having traditional “Main Stage” guests and live panels, fans can hang out with their favorite casts, V.O. artists and creators through digital meet-and-greets sponsored by new partner Peeq, that can be saved and stored by them forever. VIP attendees will even be granted the opportunity to nerd out with their favorite LIVE Q&A panel and take a keepsake photo to share their participation with the world.
L.A. Comic Con is also using this first Micro Con to bring together the organizers, leaders and fans of independent Cons and fan events from all over North America to establish a virtual Independent Con Network (ICN), including AnimeNEXT (https://animenext.org/) based in Atlantic City, NJ, IkkiCON (http://ikkicon.com/) based in Austin, TX & El Paso Comic Con (http://elpasocomiccon.com/) based in El Paso, TX, as the first three of many Cons to join. With the massive industry shutdown hitting its one-year mark and in-person events not slated until Q3 or Q4 of this year, With the massive industry shutdown hitting its one-year mark and in-person events not slated until Q3 or Q4 of this year, L.A. Comic Con is forming the ICN to help steward mutual support and promotion among each other’s events, to give Con fans more access to more fun content. L.A. Comic Con organizers realized that most fan conventions are very localized – so not competing with one another – but through streaming and digital access, fans everywhere can now enjoy local content they never could before except through travelling. There are no fees to join the ICN, and all “host” events will share revenue generated by each other’s local fans, through technology provided by L.A. Comic Con partners Tixr, and InCrowd Studios.
Micro Con will take place on April 17, 2021 from 11:00am – 3:00pm PST. Tickets are available today at on comicconla.com for just $15 for General Admission and $35 for VIP Admission. Digital Meet & Greets will range from $50 to $100.
