KIDS’ COMIC CON AND CHILDREN’S ART CARNIVAL TEAM FOR “FUTURE FLASH” SCI-TECH COMIC CON ON DEC. 16!

NEW YORK (December 1, 2023) – On Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023, Kids Comic Con (KCC) the children’s arts outreach initiative celebrating its 17th year returns… and this time, they’re teaming up with the Children’s Art Carnival! The event takes place at 62 Hamilton Terrace in Harlem, NY from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

KCC “Future Flash” is a STEAM-filled event engaging kids’ imaginations and empowering them to tell their own tales as they become scientific inventors and creative artists! It brings kids into the future by showing the intersection between science fact and science fiction and revealing how science and tech inspire their favorite superheroes from comics, movies, and TV.

At KCC “Future Flash,” kids will learn how ray guns became phasers, super suits became exoskeletons, and communicators became cell phones. From Batman to Black Panther, Star Trek to Star Wars, and every incredible character in-between, kids will make the connection between science and art like never before!

Throughout the day special presentations on the connections between real-life science and sci-fi fantasy will be given, along with drawing and animation workshops, virtual interviews, giveaways, and more. Special programs this year include Women in Science, Afrofuturism, and From Flash Gordon to Star Trek and Beyond: The Future of Science & Tech.

As always, joining the roster will be noted comics creators, children’s entertainers, and renowned science and history experts making up a big part of the KCC fun.

Guests include…

  • Alex Simmons (playwright, educator, comics writer – Archie, Tarzan, Blackjack)
  • Tim Fielder (illustrator/creator-animator of Matty’s Rocket, and Infinitum)
  • Steven Harris (artist – Voltran, DC’s Aztec, Ajala)

  • Javier Cruz-Winnick (writer-cartoonist – A Reason to Smile!, Whatup Dog)

…and more!

“STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math, and KCC Future Flash is dedicated to the concept of teaching kids that all of the science, math, and related subjects they learn about in school are an integral part of the fantastic stories and art they love,” explains Alex Simmons, founder of Kids’ Comic Con.

“We’ve always been about showing kids they can be themselves and tell their own stories, learning along the way while they’re being creative. The Children’s Art Carnival shares our view, and we’re thrilled to team up with them on this event that promises to be not just inspiring but exciting, too!”

So, do you want to learn what keeps your favorite flying heroes up, and helps them bring their arch foes down? Here’s your chance to explore red suns, gamma rays, and super ways to save the day… soar to new heights where masks and capes meet test tubes and beakers… and discover the sci-fact “Why” behind the sci-fi “Wow!”  Join the “experiment” and enjoy the endless possibilities!
