Jerry Hinds talks about SUPACROSS #4

You may remember Jerry Hinds from his comic about Donald Trump as a superhero, MAGA Man! He is back in the ThunderZone with SupaCross #4.

First Comics News: For anyone new to the comic, who are SupaCross?

Jerry Hinds: It’s a super crossover. ‘Supa’ is code in this universe for a person with powers. The main protagonist superheroes are, Myst, Singapore Sling, D-Temasek, Clandestine and Wang Wang.

1^st: Do you need to read issues 1-3 to follow the story?

Jerry: Ideally, yes. However, there’s a comprehensive recap and roll call at the start of each issue.

1^st: This is planned as a 6-issue mini-series. Is each comic a complete story on its own?

Jerry: Not quite. It’s a single story split into 6 chapters.

1^st: Can you pledge to all 4 issues if you are new to the ThunderZone Universe?

Jerry: Yes.

1^st: Myst is a US-based hero in Singapore. Why is the story set in Singapore?

Jerry: Myst is an international supa street-magician. She’s on the Singaporean leg of her ASEAN tour.

1^st: How do you incorporate local Singapore themes and issues into the comic?

Jerry: Singapore Sling and D-Temasek are local, and provide plenty of contextual opportunities. Myst actually enjoys a popular local breakfast in this current issue.

1^st: What is Pure HI+ Water?

Jerry: This is a popular brand of water. They are the sponsors of the Myst ‘Real Magic’ world tour.

1^st: Who is the Temenggong warrior?

Jerry: His name is Satria. He was an ancient warrior from the Melayu tribe. His spirit partially inhabits D-Temasek, along with the spirit of an ancient alien warrior, Xerka.

1^st: You are writing and drawing the story, Jerry Hinds, while Iylia Dhamiri Zakaria is scripting the story. Does Iylia, dialogue after you are done, or do the two of you craft the story before you begin?

Jerry: The overall plot and page breakdowns are done mainly by me. This style is often referred to as The Marvel Method. Iylia is responsible for dialogue and captions. I then edit accordingly.

1^st: Who do you have lined up as cover artists on SupaCross #4?

Jerry: David Ross of mainstream comic book fame pencilled the Variant Cover. I penciled the Main Cover.

1^st: Any plans for a SupaCross MAGA Man crossover down the line?

Jerry: That would be nice! SupaCross is currently with ThunderZone, whereas MAGA Man is only under my Nice One Comics.
