INVADER COMICS GOES FERAL WITH THE LONG-AWAITED RETURN OF THEIR GRISLY HORROR TITLE, ANIMALS

Resident Evil meets The X-Files in the dark heart of the animal kingdom.

LOS ANGELES, June 25, 2024 – What if the hunter became the hunted? What if the animals that humans preyed upon decided it was time to turn the tables? That’s the premise behind Invader Comics’ atmospheric new horror series, ANIMALS, from writer Keith Foster (Kodoja, Three Protectors) with art by hot newcomer Nico Miérez.

When a mutagenic virus starts to infect and reanimate the animal population deep in the heart of the Pacific Northwest, two government officials find themselves in a world of trouble. Why are these animals turning on humans? Who is behind the grisly outbreak? And what can be done to bring this nightmare scenario to an end? Equal parts Resident Evil and The X-Files, Animals explores the tenuous relationship between man and the natural world.

“I really wanted to explore the dynamic between humanity and the animal kingdom, and what would happen if that delicate balance were upset,” says writer/creator, Keith Foster. “At the same time, I wanted to tackle a grisly horror that could shock and entertain while addressing those deeper issues. Animals is the by-product of those explorations, filtered through the lens of Nico’s dark, noir-inspired art, and I’m excited to share the conclusion to this story we’ve been developing over the last year.”

In the first issue of Animals, a hunter in Washington State’s Olympic National Park died from what an eyewitness insisted was a long-dead elk coming back to life, in order to exact its revenge – while a bear stalked a camper with seemingly human intelligence and chilling determination. Animals began killing people, and it was up to Sheriff Jack Bertrand to figure out why. Now, the horror continues as Bertrand and his reluctant partner, Wildlife Agent Dan Simmons, frantically track the murderous animals, only to find the animals are tracking them!

This new Kickstarter campaign from the team at Invader Comics (Back To Fairtaylia, Enormous) gives readers the chance to get their hands on Animals issue #2 several months ahead of its official publication, as well as the opportunity to catch up on issue #1 and more of Foster’s thought-provoking work. There’s also a Kickstarter exclusive B&W virgin art cover for the series, featuring Carlo Romero’s original artwork, in a limited run of just 50 copies – along with digital, physical, and bundle tiers designed to appeal to all tastes and budgets.

We’re all about developing a space where different creators can explore a variety of genres, and tell the stories that burn inside them,” adds Invader Comics editor-in-chief, Michael Perkins. “Aside from being one of the key members of the Invader team, we’ve seen success with Keith’s work on Kodoja and Three Protectors – as well as the first issue of Animals, which sold out at distributor level on its release last year – so it’s an honor to present the conclusion of the saga as we raise the stakes and ramp up the horror.”
