It is with a heavy heart that we are forced to postpone Comic Con Revolution 2020 in light of ongoing COVID-19 concerns, but rest assured the Revolution will rise again on May 22-23, 2021 at the Ontario Convention Center.
After much deliberation with all relevant parties including the CCR Team, our guests, the convention center and the city of Ontario it was determined that the most responsible and prudent decision is to reschedule the show to 2021.
The lack of clear guidelines of how to properly put on an event that will have thousands of people gathering together caused by this once-in-a-lifetime situation have made it impossible to proceed. In addition to the health concerns for everyone from staff, to vendors, to guests, to attendees we also had to look at the financial ramifications of proceeding.
Asking creators and artists, some who are accompanied by family, to travel across the country would be reckless. Asking vendors and exhibitors to set up at a show that potentially could have an extremely limited number of attendees is disingenuous, not to mention risky. Having our staff and families working on-site would make us derelict in our duties as employers and family men. We are a family-owned business, and that family extends beyond our team to our attendees, exhibitors and guests.
Our industry is suffering from the Covid-19 Pandemic which will require hard work by event company owners and incredible patience by attendees in order to recover and prosper again. We know that we are going to put in that hard work and we ask for you all to have that patience with us.
Please bear in mind, we are not receiving a refund from the Ontario Convention Center, we have to transfer our payments from 2020 toward the 2021 show. All the revenue we have received from the purchase of Advance Tickets, Artist Alley Tables and Exhibitor Booths is currently tied up in the cost of renting the Ontario Convention Center, the decorator, the audio visual company, marketing, staffing and multitude other areas each year. With this in mind Advance Tickets, Artist Alley Tables and Exhibitor Booth Reservations for the 2020 Comic Con Revolution will automatically transfer to our May 22 & 23, 2021 show. All tickets will be valid and we will handle the transfer, you just need to start marking the days off the calendar.
We work hard all year to produce an event worthy of you all, our incredible attendees, our Comic Con Revolution Family. Our efforts are rewarded when we open the doors to you at the Ontario Convention Center and alas, this year it was not meant to be. The disappointment we feel is truly soul-crushing. We make you a promise now that 2021 will be our best show yet. We will compile an incredible guest list, an exciting exhibitor and vendor floor, an artist alley you won’t want to leave and unforgettable panels. Remember, all tickets will be valid for the 2021 show. We will handle the transfer, you just need to start marking the days off the calendar.
We will automatically start issuing refunds for autographs, photo ops and John Romita Jr. Luncheons beginning August 1, 2020. Our goal is to book each of the associated guests for our 2021 event so attendees can repurchase these add-ons when/if they become available in the future. We will be in contact with purchasers directly to make those arrangements.
Looking forward to 2021, we plan to begin announcing guests and experience packages later this summer. We will also be rolling out some fun video chats and CCR virtual panels, as well as begin our regular podcast this summer and we hope you will join us!
We think the world of all of our CCR Family and only together can we all succeed.
Warmest regards,
The CCR Team
