NEW COMICS 4 THIS WEEK (06/24/20)
*All comics will be rated on a scale from 1 to 10*
Batman # 93- This issue will indeed shock you to your core, and ever since we got the death to Alfred a few months back….nothing will prepare you for this! I enjoyed the Harley Quinn vs Punchline sequences and the conclusion to that will indeed have your jaw drop to the ground (**NO SPOILERS **) and you’ll probably go nuts over the ending because it now looks as if “Joker War” is going to be very epic.
Doctor Tomorrow # 3- This issue was all-out action and I really got a kick out of the twist involving Doctor Tomorrow, Bart Simms and Hadrian plus seeing the entire Valiant Universe unite is still a cool thing to see, as for the whole Doctor Tomorrow/Hadrian plot thread- It will be interesting to see how it gets played out in the next issue.
Empyre: Avengers # 0
The Flash # 756
Green Lantern 100-Page Super Spectacular # 1
Green Lantern 100-Page Super Spectacular # 1- This was a great special, honoring every Green Lantern EVER! and I really thought that the stories were all in top-notch form; The one that stands out the most was ‘”Last Will” by Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis in which Hal Jordan finds himself stranded on a planet as uses his last bit of power from his ring to deliver some messages, a very fun story with a great twist (Trust me, you’ll get a kick out of it), and I also enjoyed the Green Lantern/Green Arrow story by Dennis O’Neil (R.I.P.) and Mike Grell and the Jessica Cruz story by Mariko Tamaki and Mirka Andolfo were simply excellent and not to mention the Robert Venditti/Rafa Sandoval story, this special showcased the very best of G.L. and shows that DC can pull out all the stops in an anniversary issue. Another excellent super spectacular.
Harley Quinn & The Birds Of Prey # 2
Immortal Hulk # 34- This entire issue was dedicated to The Hulk’s #1 enemy – The Leader. The story itself was great in showing us the history of the man who basically hates The Hulk more than General Ross himself so it was a great read and it took a break from the current storyline and after this, I would definitely love to see more of The Leader.
Peter Porker, The Spectacular Spider-Ham #5
Peter Porker, The Spectacular Spider-Ham # 5- While it’s sad that this was a mini-series and this is the last issue, I have no problem by saying that this series went out with a bang! If you’re like me, you’ll get a kick out of the first few pages where Mojo has Ham in a rather toned-down parody of “Family Guy” and Spider-Man himself doing a rather weird Joaquin Phoenix as Joker bit (That alone is worth the five dollars you’ll put down for this book); But this series once again delivered on the comedy and some action which will make you feel like you’re watching a cartoon but I would love for Spider-Ham to return in another series because the whole “Marvel Universe meets Looney Tunes” aspect makes this series very special all while making the reader itself fallen love with Spider-Ham.
Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen # 11
I’ll recap the latest happenings at the forum this Sunday, and then return for “Review Corner” next Tuesday and New Comics Day next Wednesday. Thanks for sticking around and I’ll see you all next time.
