Saga # 57– With Alana preparing for a smuggling mission and we get a small glimpse into Bombazine’s backstory that I hope will be touched up down the road, I enjoy how this series continues to go forward by paying homage to the past issues (The flashback sequence featuring Ghus will hit you in the heart) while doing a perfect job of opening a new chapter for these characters that we’ve grown to love and I feel that it’s a testament to the work that Brian K. Vaughn and Fiona Staples have delivered since the end of the book’s three-year hiatus and hoping that these upcoming issues will bring us more surprises.

Savage Spider-Man # 2– I’m definitely loving Spidey as a half-man/half-spider hybrid trapped on an island with Baron Zemo as it takes the concept of “Lord of The Rings” and blends it in with “The Island of Dr. Moreau” to provide something terrifying that will live in infamy as one of the most frightening Spider-Man stories to date, but also keeps up guessing on what will come next.

Venom: Lethal Protector # 1– David Michelinie returns to present a Venom story that’s wrapped in nostalgia but puts a fresh spin on it which in turn is a fun read. The fact that Michelinie takes classic elements from his “Amazing Spider-Man” run and incorporates them into this series is truly a wonderful thing because I miss Eddie’s interaction with the symbiote, his attempts to reconcile with his ex-wife, Anne Weying, and the return of Humbug (One of the silliest Spider-Man villains who uses audiotapes and amplifiers to broadcast the noise of various insects) will bring you back to the beloved days of yesteryear. Lethal Protector came out the gate strong and is a love letter to Venom’s early days which in turn is perfect for all of the Lethal Protector’s fans.

Well, that’s it for me. Thanks for sticking around and I will see you all next time.
