NEW COMICS 4 THIS WEEK (08/05/20)
*All comics will be rated on a scale from 1 to 10*
Batman # 96- I’m really loving where “Joker War” is headed as we find out the fate of Harley Quinn (**NO SPOILERS**) and I like how the story not only shows us a glimpse of the new hi-tech batsuit but seeing a drugged-up and unhinged Batman (Due to the gas that Punchline used on him) and the sight of a dystopian version of Gotham thanks in part to The Joker’s growing influence and wealth really amped up the arc and made for a great story and I enjoyed how James Tynion IV and Jorge Jimenez work extremely well together as a creative team as I strongly feel that Jimenez ‘s art is very detailed and moody which is perfect for a Batman series; Plus, Tynion’s writing is really good to the point that he’s giving us a different yet intriguing take on the Batman/Joker feud that will have you waiting to see what happens next. Another home run for the creative team.
Batman: The Adventures Continue # 3- The latest arc involving Deathstroke was really fun to read and every moment is a complete blast to read; This series really does a wonderful job of keeping the spirit of the animated series alive and these new adventures, written by Paul Dini and Alan Burnett, are giving us some of the best Batman stories to date with this series so this should be on every Batman fans’ radar.
Deadpool # 6- I always love a good Deadpool crosses path with The X-Men and it was only a matter of time before ‘Pool steps foot on Krakoa and this issue gives us that and more. First, I like how this issue goes into full sitcom mode when Wade meets up with The X-Men and it was hilarious!! And with this kind of story, I strongly feel that Kelly Thompson is making her run on Deadpool very memorable (Although I feel like she should ramp up Pool’s humor in the vein of Ryan Reynolds); But I’m really hoping that this issue will kick off some more comical stories like this one and hopefully, we’ll get to see a sequel to this issue, because it’s a beautiful thing to see Deadpool and The X-Men mix it up…….and it’s also funny.
Fantastic Four # 22 – While this one yet another tie-in to Empyre, seeing both Spider-Man and Wolverine was really fun to see and I’m really liking the aspect of both Franklin and Valeria teaming up with Spidey and Logan to make up a substitute FF (I still miss Ghost Rider and The Hulk) so this is an arc that’s so amazing thanks to Dan Slott’s writing and the excitement that he brings to the table as it’s very refreshing that Slott’s a fan of Marvel Comics in general because this is a Fantastic Four that anyone can enjoy and I can’t wait to see The New FF in action.
Well, that’s it for me this week. Thanks for sticking around and I’ll see you all next time.
