Future State: Dark Detective # 4
Ice Cream Man # 28
Maestro: War & Pak # 2
Symbiote Spider-Man: King In Black # 4
Future State: Batman & Superman # 2– This was a very intense team up with dark elements thrown in but at the same time, it is an enjoyable team-up featuring The Man of Steel and The Dark Knight, especially since Professor Pyg was used as the main villain and that alone is a great touch. I also felt like this arc was way too short and should and have a few issues to really help flesh out this storyline but I’m hoping that Gene Luen Yang can revisit this story sometime soon.
Ice Cream Man # 23– Another interesting issue of this terrific and frightening anthology series. This issue focuses on a talk show host named Mack Benson who gets wrapped up and disfigured by an Albino Burmese Python (Yep…..so gruesome!) and what’s cool about this story is how the incident is followed up by way of written accounts by Mack’s staff (His assistant and an intern he’s fooling around with), not to mention his own wife (Who was planning to divorce him); While this series has captivated my interest and made me invest in the stories, this is by far one of the most creative issues of Ice Cream Man but it also leaves you with plenty of chills after you read it.
Maestro: War & Pak # 2– The Pantheon, who are known to Hulk fans as the peace-keeping organization from Peter David’s run, make an appearance here and given the history between The Hulk (now Maestro) and the Pantheon, watching them devise a way to stop the Maestro, even with a slight assist from Doctor Doom himself, made for a story that helps set up the next big element that will get played out and seeing this series get to its conclusion is very rewarding because of how good the story is because it’s keeping us on the edge of our seats…..and that’s a wonderful thing.
Symbiote Spider-Man: King In Black # 4– Still loving the adventures of Spider-Man and his team of heroes (Captain Marvel, Rockey Raccoon, and Kang The Conquerer) on their quest to recover the Ebony Blade from Mr. E (A shadow being who was created by Knull); The action sequences just come at a fast pace and I did enjoy seeing Ulik The Troll thrown in the mix, as this is a great space epic full of intrigue and suspense and another great entry into Spider-Man’s earliest adventures with his symbiote suit.
Well, that’s it for me. Thanks for sticking around and I will see you all next time.
